Tel Aviv

1 - The Tel Aviv Performing Arts Centre (partial view) (20 Kb) 2 - A sculpture by Menashe Kadishman near the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (25 Kb) The city of Tel Aviv, which was founded in 1909 as a new settlement north of Jaffa, is now the most densely populated and the most industrialized city in Israel.

Tel Aviv itself is a part of a larger conglomeration (dubbed "Big Tel Aviv"), which includes several satellite cities. The boundaries between the parts of Big Tel Aviv now exists only on maps. Big Tel Aviv with its two-million population boasts three big universities, a large number of high-tech companies, several art museums, exhibition halls and performance centres, as well as pleasant beaches.

Among a few our pictures of Tel Aviv, we have the Tel Aviv University campus, full of modern architecture and sculpture (the Cymbalista Synagogue and Jewish Heritage Center, donated by Norbert Cymbalista and designed by Mario Botta, is very impressive), the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (building), and the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Centre, which hosts The New Israeli Opera.
