Sachne hot springs and "Gan Garoo"

1 - A waterfall in Sachne (35 Kb) 2 - A parrot in Gan Garoo (28 Kb) Gan Hashlosha is a park set around natural pools, which are fed by Sachne hot springs. One can bathe and swim in the pools year round, because the temperature of the water is steady +28 Celsius.

The pools are connected by small waterfalls. There is even a watermill, real but non-working.

When we swam in the warm pools, it was amusing to watch lots of small fish which tried to draw near and touch us.

The park also has a museum of Mediterranean archaeology and a reconstructed "wall-and-tower" settlement of 1930s, where you can climb the watchtower and become familiar with the life of "kibbutznikim" (settlers) in their huts. 3,4 - A pelican (56 Kb) 3,4 - A pelican (56 Kb)

Next to Gan Hashlosha, there is "Gan Garoo" park, a unique corner of Australian nature in Israel. Kangaroos, koalas and birds from Australia wander there among eucalyptuses and sometimes you can pat them on their backs (if they are in friendly mood). Animals and birds were donated to Israel by Australian government.

After swimming in Sachne pools, we visited Gan Garoo and enjoyed playing with small kangaroos, patting Australian rabbits and letting parrots sit on our fingers. Near the Australian park, there is a "children's maze" where children and adults try to get lost and look in funny curved mirrors.
