The Negev in bloom
Some places in Israel are good to visit year round, but some are
especially beautiful in certain seasons. For the Negev, a large desert
area in southern Israel, the beginning of spring is the time of special
beauty. Wild flowers carpet the ground, and animals come out of their
winter shelters (or maybe wake up from hibernation?).
Many sites in the Negev are worth visiting in the springtime: Beeri, Pura
reserve, the banks of Bsor river, the
unique spot where Yeruham iris grows, and more.
Unfortunately, the wonderful Negev spring hardly lasts longer than a
month. The summer comes, the sun dries everything out, and the Negev
again becomes a desert.
